Hey Keith, a location where it was found, size of specimen and a hardness test would greatly help in identifying.. Photos are the least accurate way to identify a mineral.. Note I said mineral? How do you know its a gemstone if you don't know what it is??

Found in norther BC,Canada around 55 parallel. I know its a gem stone as of the hardness is over six and can not be scratched with a knife. There has been no other mineral like it found in that area. A few people thought it is Jade. The way it has formed tells me different. Look up Amazonite. It is the closest i could find to what it may be. Thanks for your reply.

Not Amazonite Keith.. Amazonite is a green variety of Microcline Feldspar which your specimen shows no Feldspar form at all. I'm still lookin into it but it's definitely not Amazonite..

Okay Keith, can you specify the nearest town, mine etc. I can't find anything like that in BC. Appears it could be Turqoise. Hardness is good, can you take a good close up pic. If you have a Macro setting on your camera you should be able to.. Let me, help you.. also see if you can remove a small piece to do a streak test or an acid test. If it's Turqoise it with dissolve in acis but with difficulty. I'm leaning toward Turqoise but still need a bit more info.

Hey Keith, I have uploaded pics of Amazonite, check it out. You can see the cleavage planes, this is why I don't believe your piece is Amazonite.
