Actually Kevin, second hand stores, flea markets and even garage sales are very good places to find such things as minerals, rocks, and what you found. It's usually a bonus as their not lookin for profit and you pay little.

hello andrew I am amazed at some of the jewels you have encountered on your trips. I have found some unique stone right here in the london area but do not know what it is I will take some pictures in the near future and post them on my G mail sight. maybe you can help me identify what these beautiful dark red and swirl patterned stones opaque in nature but the colours are deep red velvet and murky tope are . They swirl togeather in amazing patterns. Please be patient I am a busy procrastinator but I will do my best to get them up here a.s.a.p. for your scrutiny. talk to you soon.

Hi Andrew

You have found some nice pieces, the blood red Sphalerite I believe is my favorite so far. I just found my first Titanite sphene last weekend. Its my best this summer so far. Keep up the pics. They are great to see!

Hi Andrew,

I'm planning a trip to Bon Echo later on in August so I definitely need to take a detour to Bancroft. But that after I get back from BC. My girlfriend and I are driving across Southern BC from Fernie to Vancouver. Do you know of any good places to find good mineral samples out there?

By the way, Excellent photos!

Corundum from the region is either barrel shaped or pencil like crystals.. I managed to find some small ones at Craigmont, a bluish color and a brown color. At Burgess I found a nice barrel shaped bronze colored xl about 4cmlong. Just a note, I found more Corundum at Burgess. Craigmont has been well picked over for many years so collecting can be spotty or… Continue
