Now actually lots are still open in the fall as this is one of the best (no mosquitos)time to hunt! The beryl pit is open till the snow flies or bear lake digging in tory hill! there are others but ill have to check my files, as my brain is having a temperary holiday right now.

I too live in Simcoe County!! If you are interested in rocks you should come out to a meeting at the Georgain College Barrie, the first Wednesday every month at 7.20pm building D room 107!!! We are the Barrie gem and mineral Society, Yes it sounds official but really it a group of 15 to 25 people from all age groups that sit around talking, learning about rocks. We have a group silent auction once a year for all members. the cost is 20 dollars a year per person or 25 dollars per family per year! I joined several years ago and love it!
Anyway enough about that! Have you ever had a chance to take the kids to Bancroft? Its just over 2 hour drive for me but I am not sure how far it would Belfountain as I am unsure where that is? I myself have 3 kids who rockhound with me! They are getting older though and only one of them still loves it as much as I do! Although when I make jewelery out of them, the girls interest is back ! Teenagers?! My son is ten and enjoys digging in the mud more, I think!

I am in another period of trying to find places to go. If you let me know approximately where you are located I'll try to let you know if I find anything within a reasonable distance from you. I assume you wouldn't want to go too far from home as you would be going with your kids? We don't have very many restrictions on our distance limit but since we have a hobby farm with animals we have to do some planning if we want to go out for more that a few hours at a time.
