Sounds like you had a productive trip all around. Can't wait to see the pics. Sounds like this is more than a hobby, you sound very knowledgeable. Be sure to post the pics of the pyrite cubes please!

Go to "Eric's Page", he made a stained glass lamp shade from slices of a garden stone with garnets scatttered through it. Open the "Covington" link to veiw it. I think your garnet finds would look amazing wafer thick. Cabochons too.

Thanks for the welcome Marion. I just found this site yesterday and there are great resources. I am off to the Vernon, BC area next week and hope to go dig opals at the Klinker mine. I will let you know how it goes.

Hi Marion,
For some people, rock hounding becomes obsessive - but its fun to find all of the treasures that Mother Earth left us to find. I look forward to hearing about your rock hounding experiences.

We went to the Princess Sodalite shop/rock farm, where we bought some rocks and "farmed" some more. Also went to the CN rock pile where my (9 yr old) daughter and I spent some time looking for treasures. Alot of pretty stuff! The van was quite weighed down on the way home! (Though I justify that by saying, we were one teenager less than usual, so the rocks didn't quite weigh a… Continue
